British Handball joined a multi-sport meeting today (30 August) with new UK Sport Chair Dame Katherine Grainger to discuss the position of the 11 unfunded sports.

British handball Chair Paul Bray commented “We welcomed the opportunity to have an open and frank dialogue with Dame Katherine Grainger and are grateful for her time and understanding. The meeting was an opportunity for the unfunded sports to share the challenges they face.

“We recognise that the sports funding environment is a challenging one, but we believe that it should be possible for UK Sport to provide some level of funding for all Olympic and Paralympic sports. We discussed a number of scenarios on how this might be possible and all sides committed to continuing the dialogue around these options.

“We were encouraged by Dame Katherine’s commitment to work with us to seek possible solutions and look forward to the ongoing discussions.”
