British Handball Teams
British Handball is in charge of the GB pathway which leads on from the England and Scotland Talent Pathways. The purpose of the GB squads is to develop athletes for the international stage, through competing for GB at a senior level, but also competing in professional clubs in Europe.
When an athlete is identified with potential from the talent pathways, they begin in our youngest age groups U17 women and U18 men. They get support to develop the foundational skills required at international level along with getting International experience at age group EHF Championships. As the programmes are age-group related, each year a cohort can be selected to progress to the next age group.
The BHA aims to identify, nurture and prepare athletes to realise their potential as performance athletes and flourish as individuals.
The goal for a GB athlete is to work within a team to sustain high quality performance over three to ten days of international competition. This requires physical athleticism, mental resilience, team-work and lifestyle stability developed over years of dedicated practice, and falls in line with our BHA Blueprint.
The BHA aims to support athletes on their own journey to optimise their development, whilst understanding the team aspect within the sport.
