Mark Hawkins named as GB Senior Women's Head Coach

BHA announces the successful appointment of Mark Hawkins as the GB Senior Women's Head Coach.

Mark comes with a huge wealth of experience and expertise. Over the last 15 years he has competed as an athlete, been an analyst, led performance pathways and worked as a professional coach. His recent roles as a head coach and assistant coach for professional and international handball teams in China, Norway and Saudi Arabia has given him extensive experience of coaching at an elite international level being a part of programmes competing in both the men’s and women’s senior world championships.He also has a vast knowledge of the British and English handball set up, working as a consultant in many different facets, and through leading Great Britain youth national teams, and leading the performance pathway in England.

He has worked with the European Handball Federation (EHF) to analyse youth age group competition for them, and also wrote a best practice handball talent development framework for the Qatar Olympic committee, which completes his excellent credentials and a reputation in the wider handball community of the ability to deliver quality work.

The BHA is looking forward to the future success of the GB senior women's squad, and the integration through the pathway. With Mark's knowledge and expertise, we believe he will be a great asset to our existing cohort of experienced and developing staff.
