BRITISH HANDBALL ASSOCIATION SEEKING NEW INDEPENDENT DIRECTOR (FINANCE & CORPORATE GOVERNANCE)

Post published April 23, 2021

The British Handball Association (BHA) is the governing body for high performance international handball in the UK. It is responsible for the Great Britain national teams at all age groups, as well as elite coaching.

The England Handball Association and Scottish Handball Association are the BHA’s sole members, and are responsible for the grassroots development of the sport, as well as national and regional league and cup competitions, in their respective areas.

The BHA is recruiting a new Independent Director (Finance & Corporate Governance) to join its Board.

The position is key to the development of the sport. The new Director will join a Board currently made-up of four independent Directors, including the Chair, and four representatives of England and Scotland Handball.

The post is non-remunerated but reasonable expenses will be covered. The Director would be expected to attend quarterly board meetings, in addition to any sub-committee meetings related to their role.

The BHA has recently secured National Squads Support Funding from UK Sport of up to £375K over four years targeted at our Senior Men’s and Women’s squads. This funding brings with it several conditions including evidencing of robust financial management and implementation of a plan to work towards Tier 2 compliance with the Code for Sports Governance.
