The British Handball Association (BHA) is looking for two dedicated and experienced professionals to join our Board of Directors as Independent Non-Executive Directors, focusing on Performance and Finance.
As the governing body for high-performance international handball in the UK, the BHA is responsible for Great Britain national teams at all age groups and elite coaching. We are currently in an exciting period of growth, supported by UK Sport funding of up to £375,000 over four years for our Senior squads.
We are seeking strategic thinkers who can help us optimize the long-term performance of the sport while maintaining the highest standards of integrity and transparency.
The Roles
Both roles are voluntary (with reasonable expenses covered) and require a time commitment of approximately 3-4 days a month for an initial 4 year term.
1. Independent Director (Performance)
This Director will have strategic oversight of the Great Britain national teams.
- Key Responsibilities: Leading performance plans in collaboration with the Performance Manager and GB coaches, overseeing coach development, and tracking performance progress across training and competition.
- Ideal Candidate: You should have experience within an Olympic, Paralympic, or professional performance sport environment and a sound knowledge of the UK’s high-performance system.
2. Independent Director (Finance)
We are seeking a qualified accountant to provide strategic financial leadership and practical fiscal management.
- Key Responsibilities: Overseeing budgeting, forecasting, and cashflow; supporting the preparation of management accounts; and ensuring robust financial controls and governance are in place.
- Unique Opportunity: The successful candidate will also be considered for the senior independent director position on the Board.
