The GB17 programme is an exciting British Handball initiative. It aims to bring together the best young handball talent born 2000 and after, and provide a training and selection opportunity for potential players through the GB handball Programme.
After a series of trials a training squad will be selected for a further training period from January 2017–July 2017 in preparation for the EHF competition.
Although the British Handball Association is supporting the project with resources and limited financial support this will be a self-funded project. Contributions from players will cover:
- accommodation and travel to all organised camps
- coaching and education sessions whilst participating in the camps and at the tournament.
Travel to UK training is at a player’s own expense as are other personal costs associated with attending the UK Camps.
It is important that all trialists are fit to train and participate fully in the training.
Holly Lam-Moores is head coach for the programme, and Dave Partington is team manager. Training sessions are also scheduled for 19 November 2016 at Oldham and 10 December 2016 at Trafford Soccerdome.
