GB vs Malta 34:18 (16:6)
Bobby White’s GB Men’s U20 side made it to wins in two days as they defeated Malta earlier tonight in their fifth and final game of their 2018 IHF Trophy – European Zone campaign in Kosovo.
The win, which followed a victory against Ireland on Saturday means that GB finish fourth out of six in the group, behind winners Kosovo, Georgia and Moldova.
Against Malta, the capital city Pristina witnessed a quick-to-start GB side come out of the blocks fast, taking a four-goal lead with a strong defence standing firm against the Maltese attacking play.
Malta gradually started finding some holes in the GB defence, but the young men adapted well and found solutions to the problems they caused, eventually extending their lead before half-time to 10 goals (16:6).
The GB men continued in the same vein after the half-time pause with Malta never really threatening a comeback as the GB men ended their time in Kosovo controlling the game with a strong aggressive defence and composure in attack.
GB scorers: Jack Lees (7 goals), Caleb Mathews (6), Nathan Grant-Williams (4), Oli Sutcliffe (4), Adam Latter (4), Tyler Gilborn (3), Rob Paripovic (3), Yebila Collins (2), Liam McCarthy (1).
Most Valuable Player: Rob Paripovic
