Ciaran Williams steps down as GB Under-18 Men’s coach for personal reasons.

With his increased coaching and work commitments in Norway, he took the difficult decision that he could no longer continue in his GB role.

GB Men’s assistant coach and London 2012 Olympian Chris McDermott has been appointed as interim GB U18 Men’s coach and will take the team on a training camp to Portugal in September and to the IHF trophy in Kosovo in October.

Ciaran said: "This has been a difficult decision, but with my increased commitments in Norway I felt I could not dedicate the required time to continue working with the squad. The EHF Championship was a great learning experience for the whole squad and they now need to train intensively to build on this. It was a privilege to work with these young players and I wish them every success for the future.”

BHA Chairman, Paul Bray commented: "We are very sorry to see Ciaran leave and are very grateful for all the time and effort he has put into running this squad. The players have greatly befitted from his experience and energy and I know he will continue to follow their development with great interest”.
