The International Handball Federation (IHF) has agreed to extend its support for the GB New Markets programme for a further four years.
As before, the funding will support youth handball development in Great Britain, both through the British Handball Association (BHA) GB age group programmes, and at grassroots level through the activities of the England Handball Association (EHA) and Scottish Handball Association (SHA). The funding has been increased and also extended by a further year compared to previous programmes.
IHF President Dr Hassan Moustafa said “We are pleased to extend this funding until 2025 and look forward to working together with the BHA, EHA and SHA. The programme has helped to develop the sport across the UK at grassroots level, and we are also seeing the progress of their GB age group national teams in international competition.”
Commenting on the news, Paul Bray, British Handball Chair said “We are grateful to the IHF and President Hassan Moustafa for this ongoing support, which recognises the significant positive developments across the UK. From a GB perspective, the IHF Trophy Europe Zone title win last month for our GB Men’s Under-20 team was a great indication of the improvements being made across the board”.
