Steeples and Saunders Selected for Powered By Purpose Programme

Post published September 12, 2023

It is with great pleasure to announce that GB senior squad members Floran Steeples and Hannah Saunders have been selected for the UK Sport Powered by Purpose Project. To gain two successful applications onto this prestigious programme shows the strength and determination of our athletes to use their voices as GB athletes for a positive impact.

The programme states "The time of the athlete voice is now, and we (UK Sport) recognise the immense value in ensuring that those who want to make a difference feel empowered and have the skills to allow them to do so effectively, with authenticity, compassion, and a sense of responsibility."

"Participants in this programme will take part in a series of tailored, highly personal, live online workshops, which will lead them to explore the world of sport and athletes for social change as well as training them in the key skills they need for becoming social changemakers. The cohort of athletes going through the programme will be encouraged to share their stories and support each other on their journeys, while inspirational guest speakers will bring their lived experiences of social impact initiatives to the table."

The programme is run through UK Sport's social impact team along with external partner, the True Athlete Project. The True Athlete Project (TAP) is a UK charity that aims to build a more compassionate world through sport. Our team of athletes, coaches, sport psychologists and mindfulness teachers design and deliver a range of creative, holistic, mindfulness-based programs at all levels of sport – from community sport centres through to Olympians and Paralympians across 40+sports.

Congratulations Floran and Hannah on your successful applications.
