British Handball Association recruiting three new independent Directors

Post published March 23, 2017 (Updated March 23, 2017)

The British Handball Association (BHA) is the governing body for high performance international handball in the UK. It is responsible for the Great Britain national teams at all age groups, as well as elite coaching.

The England Handball Association and Scottish Handball Association are the BHA’s sole members, and are responsible for the grassroots development of the sport, as well as national and regional league and cup competitions, in their respective areas.

The BHA is recruiting three new Independent Directors to join its Board. The three positions are key to the development of the sport. The new Directors will join a Board currently made-up of one independent chair and four representatives of England and Scotland Handball.

The posts are non-remunerated but reasonable expenses will be covered. Directors would be expected to attend quarterly board meetings, in addition to any sub-committee meetings related to their role. Handball is going through a period of fast growth in the UK and British Handball is looking to harness the young talent that is emerging and channel it into its High Performance programmes.

British Handball, in common with most team sports, currently receives no UK Sport funding, so the challenge is to find alternative revenue streams, while still growing our High Performance structure.
